Over on the West End, just up the road from Haymarket station, is Cafe Noir. Looking gorgeous on both the outside and inside, it is definitely a place you can sit and spend hours in without getting bored.

Everything from the floor to the ceiling looks grand and, for a student especially, fancy.

With several rooms, finding a spot to sit is easy, whether it be by a window or in a sofa.

As well as teas, the café boasts speciality coffees and a large variety of cakes, pastries, and other foods such as muesli and quiche.

All the teas come in pots, which is great, as the cups are very small. Even just the pot deserves a mention, there is just something about pretty tea pots that makes me feel happy, and this one was a gorgeous deep blue.

What is even more important is that the tea inside tastes good, a pretty pot does not make up for a bad tea, but it did not have to, as the tea inside was just as nice as the pot.

Out of the nine teas on the menu; three black, three herbal and three green, I decided to try one of the greens, Milk Oolong.

A very light and delicate tea, with a subtle floral taste. Unfortunately, when you get a light tea in a pot, even when it is pretty, the last sips usually steep for too long, and turn bitter.

The first two cups were incredible, the last one was not so great. If the lid on the tea pot had been a little easier to open, the tea leaves could have been taken out and this could all have been avoided. Or going for a black or herbal tea rather than an oolong or green one.

The pots of tea cost between £2.8 and £3.2, the most expensive ones are a little pricey for a student, but for a really good tea it is acceptable as a treat.

Cafe Noir offers free Wi-Fi, which makes it a good place to get some work done and this shows on the people there, many are sat with laptops or in a meeting. If you are looking for some time away from work, do not worry, the windows, plants, art, more or less everything, are so nice to look at it sure could keep me occupied for a couple of hours.
