The Chocolate Tree

When a café has the word "chocolate" in it, not visiting is impossible.

As well as serving hot chocolate, tea and sweet treats, The Chocolate Tree in Bruntsfield is a shop selling artisan chocolate. It is definitely more known for the chocolates rather than the teas, but there is still a decent selection of teas.

From the moment you walk through the door, the cosy and warm atmosphere fills you up. Walking past shelves of chocolate and a gelato counter sure does wake your sweet tooth, and makes it very difficult to decide what you want.

As I was set on having tea, the only taste I got of the chocolate was a sip of my friend's diary-free hot chocolate, but I assure you it was a very tasty sip.

I did not completely miss out on the chocolate experience, as one of the tea options was a chocolate tea, this was an obvious choice.

To go with the tea, I had a big scoop of raspberry gelato so delicious I cannot stop thinking about it.

The tea came in a wee pot with the most gorgeous looking cup, just like the fancy ones your grandma only uses on special occasions. While I have tried teas with chocolate flavour before, none have been as flavourful as this one. In a way, it was like drinking liquid chocolate, but with a thinner consistency than melted chocolate, of course. The pot gave two full cups and cost £2.85, a little pricey for a student budget. The gelato cost £2.8, making the total £5.65.

The café offers free Wi-Fi, but it is not a place I would go to for getting some work done. The ambience is far too calming, and better suited for a time-out, or enjoying some time with a friend. I would not go back to The Chocolate Tree for a cup of tea and a treat, but I would definitely go back to have a cup of hot chocolate with a friend.
